Itinerary -
Day 1: Arrive Leh
On arrival at Leh airport, our executive will greet you and drive to the hotel. Leh is situated at an altitude of 11,500ft/3,500m and therefore it is recommend that the rest of the day be spent acclimatizing.
Day 2: Sightseeing in Leh
Today, we shall visit the monasteries at Shey and Thiksey. Shey Gompa is situated in the south of Leh and was once the residence of the royal family. Thiksey Gompa is a very imposing monastery and one of the finest examples of Ladakhi architecture. It is a 12 storey building that contains numerous statues, Thangkas and wall paintings along with pillar engraved with the Buddha's teachings. The main prayer hall has 50 feet tall seated Buddha figure. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 3: Leh - Spituk - Zingchen (3200 m) in 4 hrs
Today, we shall be driving 10 km from Leh to Spituk from where we start our trek. We will be crossing Indus river and shall enter in the Valley of Zingchen river. We will have our first camp after 4 hr walk in the valley. Overnight stay in the tent.
Day 4: Zingchen - Yurutse (3844 m) in 5 hrs
We shall pass through the Zingchen Valley and shall ascent up to 4900 m by a steep zigzag, difficult path. Further we will descend to summer pastures of Stok and follow the river which comes from Stok - Kangri massif. Overnight stay in the tent.
Day 5: Yurutse - Ganda La (4900 m) - Skiu (3510 m) in 6/7 hrs
Our trek today will start from Yurutse, we shall follow the path along the mountainside, then cross a small valley and follow zig zag steep path. Thereafter cross Ganda la. Then long descent towards Shingo. After the descent, we shall arrive in the valley of Markha and then after few hundred meters further will reach Skiu. Overnight stay in tent at Skiu.
Day 6: Skiu - Markha (3850 m) in 7 hrs
Our trek for today will be from Skiu to Markha. We shall start trekking on the right bank of Markha, where one can find vegetation. Then cross right bank of the river and cross through barren plain and arrive at Chaluk. Thereafter walk along the left bank of river and after another crossing, climb towards Markha village. Overnight stay in the tents in Markha Village.
Day 7: Markha - Hankar (4000 m) in 4 hrs
Today, we shall trek towards the main valley on the right bank. Wading through the river we shall reach the monastery of Humlung. Further we shall carry on trekking along the right bank to arrive in Hankar, where there is a human settlement. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 8: Hankar - Base camp of Kangyatse
Our trek today will little easier as the path improves as we cross a broad valley on the right side. However, the valley becomes narrow and elevates as we cross bridges on to the left bank to reach Tchatchuste. We climb up to Base camp of Kang Yatse. Overnight Tent.
Day 9: Summit - back to Nimaling
Today, we shall attempt summit bid for Kangyatse peaks. We shall start around 12 am with our expert Guides. Later the staffs get down to Nimaling, which is hardly 2 hrs walk. Overnight in tents.
Day 10: Nimaling - Kongmaru La (5150 mts/16892 ft) – Sumdo
Our trek will be to the north of the Markha, where the highest of the three passes, Kongmaru La (the 5,306 M) is situated. The views from the top is splendourous with snow peaks in every direction and on a clear day the giants of Karakoram, including K2, can also be seen on the north-western horizon. The trail descends to the Martselang valley, following the Martselang stream to the village of Sumdo. Overnight stay in the tents.
Day 11: Sumdo - Hemis (4 hrs trek) - Leh
We shall trek along the Martselang, from where the trail broadens into the valley of the Indus at Martselang village. We shall board the awaiting jeeps and shall pay visit to Hemis monastery and after that drive to Leh via Shey and Thiksey monastery. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 12: Leh departure
After breakfast check out from hotel.
